One is tempered dysregulation syndrome or syndromes inability to control anger. The behavior who artifacts in that category are temper tantrums, the behavior of tantrums that are often experienced by children aged 2-5 years.

Another new category is a psychosis risk syndrome, which is given to patients who have not declared psychosis but have the potential to experience it. Symptoms include changes in mood (mood), depression, anxiety and paranoia and occasional hallucinations.

Someone who had difficulty controlling appetite may also be categorized as mental illness is diagnosed using the new guidelines. Therefore, binge eating or overeating are also included as a new category of mental disorder.

"Technically, these classifications which so many would make everyone have a mental disorder. This will trigger the belief that all people need drugs to cope with his condition," said Til Wykes of the Institute of Psychiatry at Kings College London, said in a recent publication in The Journal of Mental Health.

According to Wykes, the new guidelines could give a wider social impact. Diagnosis of mental illness for a person will have an effect on jobs, relationships with the environment, concentration and sleep patterns even in question.

Mental disorders usually experienced by 1 of 4 adults, so do not be surprised if many adults are affected by mental illness (psychosis). This time there will be 7 types of diseases that will be fed into a new category of mental disorders.

Anxiety and amnesia will be included in the handbook of psychology Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, or DSM-5. To review the new version of the book to be published in May 2013, there are also seven other conditions to be considered for DSM-5.

Here are seven conditions that are being considered in the category of new mental disorders, as reported by Myhealthnewsdaily, Tuesday (06/28/2011), which is:

1. Hypersexual Disorders
Hypersexual disorder involves recurrent sexual fantasies and intense, sexual urges and sexual behavior lasting at least six months. This makes experts consider putting it in the DSM.

2. Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD)
Many women are familiar with premenstrual syndrome (PMS) that occurred several days before menstruation and is characterized by symptoms of mood swings, breast pain, increased appetite, fatigue, irritability and depression.

Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) is a more serious condition than PMS. PMDD can bring irritability characterized by anger, depression, feelings of hopelessness, anxiety, tension and feeling neglected.

3. Disorders 'feast' Eating (Binge)
Experts define binge eating (binge) as eating food with larger portions from the most people would eat in a certain period of time under the same conditions. Furthermore, people with the condition feel they have no control when eating. This not only happened once, but compulsive (repetitive).

4. Stress Disorder in Preschool Children
Children under 6 years of age who are facing death, threatened death, serious injury or sexual abuse, may experience the condition of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). PTSD in children can occur due to your own experience or witnessing the incident happening to someone else like her parents.

Symptoms include sad memories, recurring nightmares and dissociative reactions in which children feel or act like a traumatic event will be repeated again.

5. Learning Disorders
Learning disorders usually impairs the ability of children to learn oral, reading, written language or mathematics. This disorder affects people who have at least average ability to think or use logic. Therefore, learning disorders is distinct from the intellectual disabilities such as mental retardation.

6. Symptoms Reversal (withdrawal) of Marijuana
There are several disorders in the DSM that currently involves the use or misuse of cannabis, but withdrawal symptoms are not one of them. While the symptoms of withdrawal from the other substances, such as alcohol and cocaine, are included in the DSM.

7. Hoarding Disorder
Hoarding disorder is identified as a disorder that occurs in people who have a strong urge to collecting goods with a large number out from the needs of fair, usually until the available space in his home exhausted.

Tumor or neoplasm is an abnormal growth of body tissues. Tumors occur when cells divide excessively in the body. The body is always doing cell division to replace the old cells and dead cells with new ones. If the balance of cell division is not interrupted or running normal then that's where the tumor may form.

Benign tumors can be said if the size is below 1-2 cm, and less likely to experience growth and settling its location and not spread or damage other tissues.

But if there is a tendency in the observations, especially if size is bigger than 2 cm in then tumors can become malignant (malignant tumor) because it is spread, damaging the surrounding tissue and often called cancer.

Cause
Tumors are usually caused by a mutation of DNA in cells, the accumulation of these mutations cause tumors. These tumors can be triggered by exposure to chemicals, exposure to too much alcohol, food or environmental toxins, excessive exposure to ultraviolet light, genetic factors or radiation virus.

Symptom
Symptoms depend on tumor location. Suppose a tumor in the lung have symptoms of cough, shortness of breath, chest pain. Tumors in the colon cause weight loss, diarrhea, constipation, anemia and blood in stool.

But most tumors do not cause symptoms; the symptoms will appear after the disease entered an advanced stage. But the most common tumor symptoms are often felt chills (fever), tiredness, loss of appetite, discomfort in the body, often during sleep night sweats, weight loss and shrinking.
Treatment
If the tumor is not dangerous (benign tumor) then usually it not needed surgery and doctors don’t perform any treatment. But if there have been a tendency to grow bigger, then surgery is the best way after that followed by chemotherapy or radiotherapy to kill the tumor tissue to avoid spreading and active again.

Warwickshire, England, DNA abnormalities have often found such as the existence of multiple chromosomes or chromosome number less. But a boy in England had a more unusual DNA abnormality which first discovered in the world.

DNA or Deoxyribo Nucleic Acid is a nucleic acid that stores all information about genetics. DNA is what determines the type of hair, skin color and specific qualities of human beings.

Inside the cell nucleus, the DNA strands to form a unity called chromosomes. Every normal human cell has 46 chromosomes consisting of 22 pairs of somatic chromosomes and 1 pair of sex chromosomes (XX or XY).

But the boy Alfie Clamp, 2-year-old diagnosed as having excess strands or excess branches (extra strand) in its DNA. These conditions are fairly rare and make the doctors confused.

Based on the results of examination is known that there are 7 chromosomes in DNA Alfie have a branches or strands of material excess. This condition has never been found before in the entire world.

As a result, not single doctors who could handle it because of confusion and did not find a name for this condition which extremely rare.

In addition experts did not know whether this condition will improve or even reduce the life expectancy of Alfie. Doctors should perform various tests to determine the cause.

Because these DNA abnormalities, Alfie was blind since his born and severely disabled.
Alfie's parents, Gemma and Richard Clamp find nothing wrong with her son after he was first brought home after being born at the hospital.

Within a few days Alfie had to be rushed back to hospital because his breathing stopped and his lips turn blue. Then when he was 6 weeks doctors discovered a rare disorder in her DNA.

He also suffered from seizures due to high temperature and metabolic problems. This condition causes Alfie should be alternating in the hospital, and he recovered after spending time in hospital.

But now Alfie from Nuneaton, Warwickshire, England has been able to see and will perform the next operation to fix the problem in his colon.

Alfie's condition is different from his brother Georgia (10 years) which looks very healthy. After examination of Georgia have a DNA of healthy and do not carry the defective gene. Both parents also do not have a gene abnormality detected.

According to Richard Clamp, the doctors told him that nothing could be done to prevent it. Yet parents still think Alfie Alfie is a happy boy which brings much joy in his life.

"Having a child like Alfie makes you appreciate the little things. When he managed to do something whatever it is, we are very happy to see him," said Gemma.

A unique campaign made by a woman. For the sake of saving many lives of women affected by breast cancer, a woman willing to do long touring across the United States for 40 days.

This woman named Tamela Rich willing to explore the United States alone for 40 days for a rescue campaign from breast cancer. This is the second time Rich did a long journey.

Besides campaigning to tell how dangerous breast cancers, in this way Rich also has its own mission that is going to interview the American and Canadian motorists who survived cancer to writing a book titled "Full Throttle Live: What you can learn about the lives of women who been coping with cancer. "

In 2010, Rich also joined with some female riders from across America and Canada to join a "Women Who Ride Conga" to raise about U.S. $ 40 thousand.

Rich's own journey started from Westinghouse. From there, Rich went to Robbinsville and then passes through the Gap Deal or also known as
As "The Tail of the Dragon" After that, Rich went on his way to the west coast of the United States.

Motorists who want to welcome Rich in the region that it passes too was asked to show their spirit by decorating their bikes with great fanfare and put something pink on the vehicle. Rich is also ready to make a decorated bike contest bra for fundraising.

"It's amazing; people immediately know you're doing something for breast cancer when they saw a motorcycle that you decorate. People from all over the country were asked to get their picture with me," said Rich as quoted from the motorcycle on Monday (20 / 6 / 2011).

"It gives me the opportunity to ask for donations to research and hear how breast cancer has touched their lives. Everyone has a story about a friend, family member or co-workers because breast cancer touches one in every eight women," he concluded.

Boston, Turning off lights when you sleep at night not only save on electricity bills, but also good for health. Recent research shows that sleeping in a room brightly lit conditions can increase the risk for have contracted by type 2 diabetes.

The study was conducted by Joshua Gooley, health experts from Harvard Medical School in Boston. In experiments conducted five consecutive days, the Gooley involving 116 participants aged between 18-30 years.

The participants were divided into 2 groups, one of which is conditioned to be in a room lit for 8 hours before bedtime. The other group was placed in a dim room with the same duration of 8 hours.

Results of blood samples taken every 30 minutes showed the hormone melatonin production fell 50 percent in participants who are in the room light. These hormones regulate the biological clock associated with the cycle between sleep and waking.

In addition to triggering sleepiness, melatonin is also associated with some types of serious illnesses. Melatonin receptors located in the nerve can be called to increase the risk of cancer and type two diabetes if its activity is reduced.

"The results provide a big impact for workers who are exposed to light throughout the night last night and nap when the sun shines brightly," Gooley said as quoted by the AP on Monday (1/17/2011).

However, Gooley can not explain with certainty the relationship between melatonin receptor activity with an increased risk of cancer and diabetes. The mechanism that causes the two interconnected new will be revealed in subsequent research Gooley.

Morning sunlight was not only good for bone health, but also useful for diabetics. Vitamin D in sunshine may help improve blood sugar levels.

Recent studies have found that vitamin D that found in the body when exposed to sunlight in the morning can help people with type 2 diabetes improve their blood sugar levels.

Enough vitamin D could actually help the cells in your body that produce insulin works well, as quoted from Menshealth.com, Saturday (03/26/2011).

Researchers from Iran involving 90 people with type 2 diabetes to do the research for 12 weeks by giving vitamin D to one group and another group given a vitamin D added calcium.

Researchers find participants who took vitamin D plus calcium or vitamin D that is not added with calcium did not have blood sugar levels that are significantly better.

The same thing also expressed by Esther Krug, MD, a endrokrinologi of Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, said that vitamin D has an active role in regulating pancreatic beta cells, pancreatic beta cells where functions to make insulin.

In fact, another study published in Diabetes Care showed low levels of vitamin D can make adults at risk for prediabetes and prehypertension.

Besides taking supplements containing vitamin D and calcium can slow the progression of type 2 diabetes because of this connection that allows then screening of vitamin D deficiency in people with type 2 diabetes could have been done.

Sunlight before 9 am can provide many benefits for health such as reducing blood cholesterol levels, improve the quality of breathing, making the body becomes fresher and can be healthy bones.

Trenton, New Jersey, People who have high blood sugar levels tend to get diabetes. Those who have high blood sugar levels but have not hit people with diabetes called pre-diabetes. Order not to affect by diabetes in this group then recommended to frequently eating almonds.

Today people who love to eat almonds can get a double benefit from these types of beans. Eating almonds may improve insulin sensitivity in people with pre-diabetes so it can avoid diabetes.

Pre-diabetes is a condition of increased blood sugar levels above normal, but not too high to be called diabetes. Because triggered by obesity and unhealthy lifestyles, this condition can develop into type-2 diabetes.

Increased sugar levels due to reduced insulin sensitivity, so sugar levels that exist in the body are not metabolized into energy. The result is a buildup of glucose in the blood that can cause damage to vital organs such as liver.

When liver which is an important organ in the metabolic system is not working properly, the overall metabolism will be disturbed. The increase happens not only with sugar but also cholesterol and uric acid.

If cholesterol particularly bad cholesterol or low density lipoprotein (LDL) increases, the risk is in the heart and blood vessels. The most dangerous impact had a stroke and heart attack.

A study conducted by experts at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey revealed that diet with almonds can cope with the initial symptoms of increased blood sugar levels. Recovery rate is quite high, ranging between 90-95 percent.

The study, recently published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition, involved 65 patients had pre-diabetes. Participants divided into 2 groups, some have almonds every day and others are not.

"Present invention is quite promising for those who have risk factors for chronic diseases, like diabetes and heart attacks," said one of the researchers, Dr. Michelle Wien. As quoted from Dailymail, Thursday (30/12/2010).

Dr. Wien confirmed that almonds may improve insulin sensitivity so blood sugar levels can be better controlled. Moreover, consumption of almonds may also lead to significantly reduced LDL levels in patients with hypercholesterolemia.

Stevens - Johnson syndrome is a rare syndrome that occurs due to skin and mucous membranes provide excessive reaction to a drug or infection. Often if the attacks happen the patient should be taken to a hospital for treatment, while the recovery period could take weeks and if very serious Stevens - Johnson syndrome can lead to death.

Symptoms
This syndrome begins with flu-like symptoms such as fever and sore throat, followed by red or purplish rash on the skin that feels pain and spread or even a blister. In many cases, the cells in the outermost layer of skin will die so that her skin like peeling off.

Causes
Stevens - Johnson syndrome mostly triggered by drug use, although some people can also be triggered by infection with certain bacteria. But sometimes, the exact cause is not always certain that it is difficult to prevent.

Allergic reaction is actually caused because the body considers that the incoming substance is a foreign object so that it will cause a reaction in the body's antibodies.

Types of drugs most often triggered Stevens - Johnson syndrome include the following, as quoted from the Mayo Clinic on Thursday (16/06/2011).

  • Drugs anti-uric acid, for example allopurinol
  • Drugs Non-Steroid Anti Inflammatory (NSAID) that is widely used to relieve pain
  • Antibiotics, especially penicillin
  • Anti-seizure usually used by people with epilepsy.

Meanwhile, the infectious germs that could trigger the Stevens - Johnson syndrome include the following.

  • Herpes (herpes simplex or herpes zoster)
  • Influenza
  • HIV
  • Diphtheria
  • Typhoid
  • Hepatitis

In certain cases, Stevens-Johnson syndrome can also be triggered by physical stimuli such as radiotherapy and ultraviolet light.

Treatment
First aid to cope with allergy drug in Stevens - Johnson syndrome is to stop taking drugs that trigger allergies. Next is to give allergy medications (antihistamines) to relieve symptoms, or corticosteroids if symptoms are serious enough.

Adjunctive therapy given at the hospital includes dehydrations or replacement of lost body fluids by using the infusion. If injury occurs, the layer of dead skin must be cleaned and then covered with a bandage wound to avoid infection.

Diabetes is not a cheap disease because people who are already diagnosed with diabetes can not be cured plus the emergence of complications of other diseases that have been waiting. What is the cost incurred for the treatment of diabetes?

"Diabetes is not a cheap disease, diabetes hit when it's expensive costs,"said Dr. Samuel Oetoro, Sp.GK, clinical nutrition specialist from MRCCC Siloam Hospitals Semanggi, in the event Friendly Healthy Discussion with Glucose at House of Aldiron Aerospace, Jakarta, Tuesday (14/06/2011).

a person affected by diabetes because blood sugar levels increase due to disturbances in the body's metabolic system, where the organ pancreas can not produce the hormone insulin the body needs.

Diabetic blood sugar average above 200 mg / dl (the condition is not fasting, 2 hours after meals) or above 126 mg / dl in fasting conditions. Yet to normal, blood sugar is 80-140 mg / dl (not fasting) or less than 100 mg / dl when fasting. Whereas if blood sugar has reached 140 mg/dl-199 mg / dl (not fasting) or 100 mg/dl-125 mg / dl (fasting time) then it is categorized as pre-diabetes (the threshold between normal and diabetes and potentially become diabetic .)

When someone is diagnosed with diabetes, then that person can not be cured, but diabetes can be controlled and managed. But when diabetes is not managed properly, it can cause dangerous complications of various diseases such as heart disease, stroke, and blindness or even amputated.

Here is the estimated costs incurred treatment of diabetic patients, as explained Dr Samuel:

1. Consult with doctors
"Patients with diabetes have to pay USD 1-2 million per year only to a doctor consultation. Not to mention if consultation with a specialist. The doctor specialist could be USD 250-400 thousand once the consultation can be calculated each year how much," says Dr. Samuel.

2. Drugs
In addition to running a healthy lifestyle, diabetic patients also require medication to control blood sugar. And when the pancreases can no longer function, patients require insulin injections for life. Cost for drugs around USD 1-2 million per month.

3. Surgery (cataract)
Patients with diabetes are also potentially suffered blindness because of cataract when his blood sugar is not well controlled. The operation could cost USD 15-20 million.

4. Dialysis
If diabetes is not controlled can be harmful and damage the kidneys, patients with kidney failure requiring dialysis which cost about USD 50-60 million per year.
5. Stroke
When diabetes causes complications of a stroke, then the cost is USD $ 40-50 million.

6. Heart attack
Meanwhile, when complicated by heart disease could cost USD 60-80 million.

7. Amputation
When injured, diabetic patients will also be difficult to cure and not infrequently have suffered amputation which cost USD 130-150 million.

"Because the cost is expensive, it should be prevented not to get diabetes. Implement a healthy lifestyle by eating healthy, think healthy, resting healthy, healthy activity, healthy environment and additional supplements," says Dr. Samuel.

Barnsley, England, sex hormone normally acts as a sex enhancer and plays a role in the reproductive system. But new studies show that sex hormones can also be used in to treat diabetes.

According to a new study which is funded by the British drug maker ProStrakan, testosterone gel therapy can fix the fundamental problems in men who suffer from diabetes type 2 (diabetes due to lifestyle).

Diabetes or insulin resistance occurs when the body not knows how to use insulin to process sugar.

The researchers found that the application of testosterone gel can reduce the problem in men with diabetes which have low testosterone levels, or in men without diabetes but with a bunch of heart risk factors called metabolic syndrome. Testosterone gel therapy can as well lower cholesterol levels and has some positive impact on sexual function.

"These findings support the treatment of testosterone in men with low testosterone and type-two diabetes or metabolic syndrome,"explained Dr T. Hugh Jones from Barnsley Hospital in England in the journal Diabetes Care, as reported by Health24, Saturday (02/04/2011).

In the new study, researchers tested ProStrakan's testosterone gel and gel dummy (placebo) at 220 male middle-aged and older. Participants use the gel once a day for a year.

As a result, insulin resistance decreased by 16 percent in men which use testosterone gel. However, this testosterone gel works only on the treatment of diabetes and not a medicine to control blood sugar levels. The researchers as well found that sexual function in participants slightly increased with testosterone gel, but there was no difference in erectile dysfunction or sexual satisfaction as a whole.

The side effects were similar between the placebo gel and testosterone gel, although sometimes the testosterone gel can cause swelling around the joints and in the breast.

Does gastric acid can aggravate asthma symptoms? At first glance unrelated, because the disorder happen in the airways of asthma while the reflux of stomach acid occurs in the digestive tract. However, in some cases, asthma can get worse when stomach acid rises into the esophagus.

Increase in acid reflux or stomach contents into the esophagus occurs when the valve connecting the stomach to the esophagus does not close completely. This condition is characterized by pain or burning in your chest and throat.

Because the esophagus lies close to the throat which an airway, it makes sense if the rise of stomach acid can affect asthma. Moreover, advancements in data Allergy and Asthma Care (AAAC) showed 50-80 percent of the 15 million asthma sufferers in the United States also had a history of reflux.

"Because the symptoms of gastric acid reflux is chest pain and heat in the throat, rarely would have thought if an asthma attack also could indicate reflux of stomach acid," said Debra Peterson, a medical practitioner in Minnesotta AAAC, the United States.

Peterson said the experts can not be sure how they can influence each other, because until now many studies about it are still being developed. However, as quoted by FoxNews, Sunday (11/21/2010), some of these allegations are believed to be able to explain.

  • Asthma may get worse when stomach acid goes up into the esophagus inhaled by the lungs.
  • The increase of stomach acid causing the chest cavity became narrow, causing shortness of breath
  • Gastric acid in the esophagus will be stimulate nerve brocheolus (respiratory in the lungs) to constrict
  • Conversely, asthma can also trigger reflux because of the drugs used to relax respiratory (bronchodilators) such as theophylline are known to have side effects that can increase the secretion, and release stomach acid.

Peterson added, asthma which triggered by stomach acid is usually characterized by recurrence at irregular eating patterns, after drinking alcohol and when lying down. Not infrequently he would give the drug class of proton pump inhibitors ulcer in patients to treat this kind of asthma.

Meanwhile, to ensure connection of asthma and gastric acid, scientists from Duke University in North Carolina recently inject acid into the stomach of rats, as a result, elevated levels of gastric acid shown to reduce the immune system so many mice that have asthma.

Beijing, Breast milk is it should come from a human body. Chinese scientists doing genetic modification in dairy cows in order to produce milk like a human.

Scientists from China's Agricultural University in Beijing revealed that milk produced by transgenic cows is identical to the type of human milk.

Moreover, milk can also boost the immune system and contain the same antibacterial milk. It is expected that this milk can be sold in supermarkets in 3 years.

To produce transgenic cows so about 300 cows it intercross inserted human genes into cattle cloned embryos are then implanted into a cow replacement.

The technology used by Chinese scientists is the same as those used to produce Dolly the sheep, which produced the first cloned mammal scientists in Scotland.

Even so the milk of transgenic cows is still undergoing of safety tests and wait for permission from the government. Currently, milk has been sampled by the workers in the university dairy farm. Workers say milk is sweeter and stronger than many other types of cow's milk.

"It's a good thing and better for you because it is produced from a genetically modified," said Jiang Yao, as quoted from News.com.au, Thursday (09/06/2011).

Apart from transgenic cows, the scientists also have produced animals that are resistant to mad cow disease, as well as cattle that are genetically modified in order to produce more nutritious meat.

"Concerns of western countries is about the ethics of genetic modification was wrong place. There are 1.5 billion people in the world who do not get enough to eat, became our job to develop science and technology," ujat research project director, Professor Li Ning.
