Scientists from China 's Agricultural University in Beijing revealed that milk produced by transgenic cows is identical to the type of human milk.
Moreover, milk can also boost the immune system and contain the same antibacterial milk. It is expected that this milk can be sold in supermarkets in 3 years.
To produce transgenic cows so about 300 cows it intercross inserted human genes into cattle cloned embryos are then implanted into a cow replacement.
The technology used by Chinese scientists is the same as those used to produce Dolly the sheep, which produced the first cloned mammal scientists in Scotland .
Even so the milk of transgenic cows is still undergoing of safety tests and wait for permission from the government. Currently, milk has been sampled by the workers in the university dairy farm. Workers say milk is sweeter and stronger than many other types of cow's milk.
"It's a good thing and better for you because it is produced from a genetically modified," said Jiang Yao, as quoted from News.com.au, Thursday (09/06/2011).
Apart from transgenic cows, the scientists also have produced animals that are resistant to mad cow disease, as well as cattle that are genetically modified in order to produce more nutritious meat.
"Concerns of western countries is about the ethics of genetic modification was wrong place. There are 1.5 billion people in the world who do not get enough to eat, became our job to develop science and technology," ujat research project director, Professor Li Ning.
