Trenton, New Jersey, People who have high blood sugar levels tend to get diabetes. Those who have high blood sugar levels but have not hit people with diabetes called pre-diabetes. Order not to affect by diabetes in this group then recommended to frequently eating almonds.

Today people who love to eat almonds can get a double benefit from these types of beans. Eating almonds may improve insulin sensitivity in people with pre-diabetes so it can avoid diabetes.

Pre-diabetes is a condition of increased blood sugar levels above normal, but not too high to be called diabetes. Because triggered by obesity and unhealthy lifestyles, this condition can develop into type-2 diabetes.

Increased sugar levels due to reduced insulin sensitivity, so sugar levels that exist in the body are not metabolized into energy. The result is a buildup of glucose in the blood that can cause damage to vital organs such as liver.

When liver which is an important organ in the metabolic system is not working properly, the overall metabolism will be disturbed. The increase happens not only with sugar but also cholesterol and uric acid.

If cholesterol particularly bad cholesterol or low density lipoprotein (LDL) increases, the risk is in the heart and blood vessels. The most dangerous impact had a stroke and heart attack.

A study conducted by experts at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey revealed that diet with almonds can cope with the initial symptoms of increased blood sugar levels. Recovery rate is quite high, ranging between 90-95 percent.

The study, recently published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition, involved 65 patients had pre-diabetes. Participants divided into 2 groups, some have almonds every day and others are not.

"Present invention is quite promising for those who have risk factors for chronic diseases, like diabetes and heart attacks," said one of the researchers, Dr. Michelle Wien. As quoted from Dailymail, Thursday (30/12/2010).

Dr. Wien confirmed that almonds may improve insulin sensitivity so blood sugar levels can be better controlled. Moreover, consumption of almonds may also lead to significantly reduced LDL levels in patients with hypercholesterolemia.
